WeAmore– The Retail Operation Portal

Summary

AMOREPACIFIC appointed DMA Solutions Limited to consult, design and implement their Intranet Operation Portal so that all of their retail shops and offices can communicate and acquire the latest information in the common platform either via mobile devices or traditional web browsers.

Background

AMOREPACIFIC was established in 1945. Since its inception over 60 years ago, the company has always ranked as the No.1 cosmetics company, and at present owns nearly 30 famous skincare, cosmetics and fragrance brands, including LANEIGE and Sulwhasoo. AMOREPACIFIC has paid great attention to product research and development. They have advanced skincare technologies to perfect every product to meet the highest quality standards, bringing pleasant surprises to the market. They are seeking a comprehensive and flexible operational platform that can provide:

  • An effective and secured platform in consolidating and disseminating relevant information at the office and shop levels
  • An easy to use content management tool for their staff to publish latest information to serve portal users
  • A centralized document repository for shop and mobile staff to acquire the latest version of operational materials e.g. Operational Menu, Standard of Procedures and etc
  • A fun, social media platform to enhance staff loyalty and sense of belonging via recreational services e.g. Photo Album
  • A unified portal to aggregate existing backend systems running different technologies by using single credential to sign-on
  • A platform to support mobile devices from the single source of truth

Challenges

AMOREPACIFIC emphasized that the Intranet Portal should support multiple business units with tightened access control among assets. The web content management system should be easy to manage and support real time information publication. The portal should provide online form building and management capabilities to cater their daily information exchange. Course / Event enrollment system is also required to skill up staff’s skills.  Besides, the platform should be opened to integrate their existing Human Resource System. Global search service is also critical to discover relevant information across the operational platform.

Solution

We implemented the IBM Portal Server as their operational foundation connecting to IBM DB2 Database Server. Leveraging IBM Web Content Management System (WCMS) to manage all documents and web content. IBM Forms Experience Builder is utilized to provide form related development and management services. Global search is achieved by using IBM Portal Search Engine to discover information across the platform. Portlet development is applied to create their Course / Event Enrollment System and Photo Album for different business units.
